Introduction:
Effectively managing applicants is key to finding the perfect match for your project on Contra. This guide will walk you through the process of reviewing and organizing your applicants, from viewing their profiles to making hiring decisions.

Steps to Manage Applicants

  1. Review Applicant Profiles

    • Location: Check the applicant’s location to ensure they meet any geographical requirements you may have.

    • Profile: Review their Contra profile, which includes their work experience, skills, portfolio, and any endorsements they’ve received.

    • Cover Letter: Read through their cover letter to understand their motivation for applying and how they plan to approach your project.

  2. Evaluate Applicants and Categorize Them

    • Good Fit:
If an applicant seems like a strong candidate, move them to the "Shortlisted" section. This helps you easily track potential hires and focus on those who meet your criteria.

    • Not a Good Fit:
If an applicant doesn’t meet your needs, you can move them to the "Not a Good Fit" section. This helps you streamline your selection process by filtering out candidates who don’t align with your project requirements.

  3. Communicate with Applicants

    • Messaging Shortlisted Applicants:
Once you’ve shortlisted candidates, reach out to them through the messaging feature on Contra. This allows you to discuss the project details, ask further questions, and assess their communication skills.

    • Move to "Messaged" Section:
After messaging an applicant, they will automatically be moved to the "Messaged" section. This helps you keep track of who you’ve contacted and maintain an organized workflow.

  4. Hire the Right Candidate

    • Make Your Decision:
Once you’ve communicated with the shortlisted candidates and have made your decision, you can move the chosen applicant to the "Hired" section. This final step confirms your selection and initiates the onboarding process.
