Escrow payments: The client gets invoiced at regular intervals based on a fixed fee or hours worked.

  • One-time projects: Ideal for individual projects with specific start and end dates.

  • Milestone projects: Suited for projects involving multiple checkpoints.

For more information on escrow payments, see this guide.

Invoice billing: The client gets invoiced at regular intervals based on a fixed fee or hours worked.

  • Fixed payments: Perfect for continuous projects with an uncertain end date.

  • Hourly payments: Great for continuous projects with a defined hourly rate, but an unknown total number of hours needed to complete the project.

For more information on invoice billing projects, see this guide.

How to create a proposal

To draft a proposal, just navigate to your "Projects & Invoices" page ("Projects" page for clients) and click "Start project".

From there, follow prompts to include a timeline, details, and deliverables before sending the proposal to anyone, whether they are on Contra or not.

Additional features

In addition to these features, Contra offers free contract templates and commission-free payouts. To get an overview of your projects and invoices, go to your projects tab for a bird's eye view of their status.
